Árpád Geréd appointed as Lecturer on Cloud Computing

The University of Applied Sciences Burgenland has appointed Árpád Geréd has as a lecturer for their master programme "Cloud Computing Engineering".

This master programme aims to train tech-savvy managers and engineers with a 360° view, giving them the necessary technical, organizational and legal knowledge for working with and creating cloud computing and IoT (Internet of Things) environments. The programme's content is aimed at those who, in addition to cloud technology, are interested in business models and strategies.

In his courses, Árpád Geréd will focus on cybersecurity-related legislation including data protection, as well as licensing.

UNCITRAL-Session and AIJA-Seminar in New York

From April 16 - 20, 2018, the 55th session of the Working Group IV (electronic commerce) of the UNCITRAL, the United Nation Commission on International Trade Law, will take place at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. Cloud Computing and Identity Management will be the main topics of discussion. Árpád Geréd will take part in this session as an official representative of the AIJA, the largest international association of lawyers and in-house-councels aged 45 and below.

On April 20, 2018, Árpád will moderate an international panel on data portability and privacy by design, which will take place at an AIJA-seminar on the forthcoming EU General Data Protection Regulation also in New York. The seminar will be embedded into and held jointly with the Annual Conference of the Section of International Law of the American Bar Association.

ÁRPÁD GERÉD NEW PRESIDENT OF THE AIJA COMMISSION FOR IP/TMT

At this year's 55th annual conference of the AIJA (Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats / International Association of Young Lawyers), Árpád Geréd was elected President of the Commission for the Protection of Intellectual Property, Technology, Media and Telecommunications (IP/TMT).
 
In continuation of the objectives he has already pursued as Vice President, Árpád Geréd will devote himself to intensifying the cooperation between the AIJA and technology-oriented organizations and associations in the next three years. The focus will be on events on the most relevant topics in the fields of IP and IT, especially on data and cyber security as well as the EU General Data Protection Regulation which will enter into force in May 2018.
 
Since 1962, the AIJA (www.aija.org) has been offering a worldwide association to young lawyers and in-house counsels up to the age of 45. With more than 4,000 members from 90 countries, it provides a forum for global cooperation and information exchange among lawyers through congresses, seminars and working groups on various legal topics.

NEW MANUAL ON DATA PROTECTION BY WEKA PUBLISHING

The new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) enters into force in May 2018. For this reason, the legal and technical publishing house WEKA has published a comprehensive manual entitled "Data Protection", which deals with the existing and future legal situation.
 
What is special about this work is that for the first time it contains a dedicated section on compliance with IT security measures. This is basically the key to fulfilling the new GDPR regulations. For the preparation of this section, WEKA turned to Árpád Geréd as a recognised legal expert for IT security.
 
Apart from all the relevant information regarding the changes brought by the GDPR, the increased requirements concerning the security of customer data, enhanced rights of data subjects, etc.; this manual also provides practical tips, overviews and templates to allow for the best possible preparation for the new regulation.
